Targets

The CVD World Monitor shows country progress against the WHO GAP Targets.

In the future it will also feature additional health indicators to show a wider picture of global CVD prevalence, prevention and control.

WHO GAP Targets

Premature mortality due to CVD

Premature mortality due to CVD

The WHO Target aims for a 25% relative reduction in the overall mortality from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, or chronic respiratory diseases. The data shows the probability (%) of dying from CVD between the ages of 30 and 70. Source: WHO.

Premature mortality due to CVD

Physical inactivity

The WHO Target aims for a 10% relative reduction in prevalence of insufficient physical activity. The data shows the percentage of defined population aged 18 and over attaining less than 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week or less than 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity per week, or equivalent. Age standardized. Source: WHO.

Premature mortality due to CVD

Raised blood pressure

The WHO Target aims for a 25% relative reduction in the prevalence of raised blood pressure or contain the prevalence of raised blood pressure, according to national circumstances. The data shows the percentage of defined population aged 18 and over with raised blood pressure using the WHO definition of raised blood pressure as SBP ≥140 or DBP ≥90. Age standardized. Premature mortality due to CVD

Obesity

The WHO Target aims for 0% rise in obesity. The data shows the percentage of defined population aged 18 and over with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or higher. Age standardized. Source: WHO.
